The players have contracts so they can play games. Default is 7 but you can add contracts which you can buy in the trade area. Every time a player plays a game they go down by 1 contract. Fitness has been removed for FUT 22 but exists in previous versions. Pre FIFA 22 it is gained by resting and lost by playing. Generally a player with 80 or lower fitness will be much slower in the game. You can buy fitness cards to add to individual players or to the entire squad.
EA have created FUT in a way that encourages you to open more packs and get better players. This along with the professional scene exploding mean many players spend money to buy packs. Although better in game players will help you we don’t recommend spending money. Learn to play with lower rated players and even if you lose you will improve. Knowing all the controls and how to do skills will help you become a better FIFA player for every version of FIFA.
Players in FIFA Ultimate team are split into three categories. Bronze players rated 0-64, Silver players rated 65-74 and Gold players rated 75 to 99. These generally reflect their ability in real life and the price reflects their popularity within the game. You can create a team mixing any of them but some competitions offline and online might have to meet certain requirements.
Each category is further broken down into Normal, Rare and In Form. The following image shows one of each for bronze, silver and gold. Normal is a standard card, rare means it is just that and more valuable.
Every week in real life some players are outstanding. Ultimate team on FIFA recognises this and creates new versions of the players with increased better stats. These are called In Form players and become available to buy and are inside packs during each week. Sometimes in different positions to their original card. If you have a normal version of a card that does not change to the in form version. It means there will be the normal version of the card available and also the In Form version.
No anything you did in FIFA 21 on Ultimate team stays on that version. So you can load older versions and your squads will be as you left them. EA don’t turn off the servers for previous versions so you can still play online. FUT Champions is only available on the latest version however. When you start FIFA 22 Ultimate team it is new and starts from scratch. Coins from zero and only the random players you get as a new player (bronze, silver and couple of gold). You cannot transfer anything between versions. Although there is a one time FIFA points transfer if you had them on FIFA 20. With next gen consoles arriving during FIFA 22 progress continues onto the PS5 from PS4 and Xbox S/X from Xbox One. No need to buy FIFA again or start FUT again.
So what is FIFA Ultimate team that everyone becomes addicted to in FIFA? FIFA Ultimate Team (commonly called FUT or sometimes UT) is a mode in FIFA. It enables you build teams using any players from all the leagues to play offline and online to win coins to buy better players or packs which contain random players.
Online you can play Division Rivals and qualify for the FUT Champions Weekend and even qualify for major EA events to compete against professional FIFA players. FUT Drafts gives a choice of 5 players for each position so you can get to use all the best players without needing to actually build your own team. It does cost 15k coins to enter however. The better you do in 4 games the greater the rewards. Offline you can play Squad Battles and as with Rivals you gain rewards the better you do each week. For the first time you can now play FUT Co-Op online with a friend. Meaning you can be in different locations and play on the same team. Other big parts of FIFA Ultimate Team are Squad Building Challenges (SBCs) and Objectives. To complete SBCs you create squads to submit in exchange for rewards or players. Objectives are monthly and weekly, setting gameplay challenges to again unlock rewards. Players, points, coins, club features etc.
